A familiar overdenture attachment system is expanding its compatibility with Straumann implants — giving clinicians another restorative option for implant-retained prostheses.
Zest Dental Solutions has announced the availability of its genuine LOCATOR Attachment Systems for Straumann implants, covering multiple Straumann connections. Zest’s official announcement lists Tissue Level, NNC, RN and WN, as well as Bone Level NC and RC connections.
What does this mean for clinicians?
The LOCATOR system is widely used for removable implant-retained overdentures. Zest states that its Straumann Bone Level overdenture abutments are available for NC and RC platforms, with multiple cuff-height options ranging from 1 mm to 6 mm.
The system is designed around a relatively simple restorative workflow, with features intended to make overdenture treatment more adaptable.
According to Zest, key LOCATOR features include:
- Self-aligning design
- Customizable retention levels
- Low vertical height
- Pivoting technology
- Correction of implant angulation of up to 40° between implants
- Options for both removable overdenture and fixed full-arch workflows
More than a removable overdenture attachment
One notable aspect of the LOCATOR platform is Zest’s LOCATOR FIXED concept. The company states that the same abutment and workflow can be used for fixed full-arch and removable overdenture treatment plans, potentially allowing clinicians to consider different restorative approaches without changing the attachment platform.
Why this matters in implant prosthodontics
Implant-supported overdentures require careful attention to implant connection, abutment selection, cuff height, implant angulation and available restorative space.
Expanding compatibility with established implant systems can give clinicians and dental laboratories more component options when planning implant-retained restorations.
Zest says its LOCATOR portfolio now covers more than 280 implant connections, with Straumann included among its implant-company partners.

For dentists
The new availability is particularly relevant for clinicians involved in edentulous rehabilitation, implant-retained overdentures and full-arch implant prosthodontics.
As always, clinicians should verify the exact implant connection, platform, cuff height, component compatibility and manufacturer’s IFU before selecting an abutment for a specific case.
